Missy Franklin and Matt Grevers pocket gold medals – Arena Grand Prix

Missy Franklin and Matt Grevers pocketed gold medals of the 200m backstroke in Women and Men’s category on second day of the 2013 Arena Grand Prix.

Franklin stayed in a comfortable lead over her toughest challenger and surfaced on the wall for gold medal with a timing of 2 minutes and 07.31 seconds.

The first position holder was traced by Hilary Caldwell, who was almost five seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and ended second in the race by producing a time of 2 minutes and 12.13 seconds.

Third position of the race was gained by Miyuki Takemura, who stayed one and a half body length slower from her former finisher and stepped on the podium for bronze medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 13.74 seconds.

Fourth best position of the race was secured by Lauren Lavigna, who remained only 0.03 seconds slower from Takemura and settled on the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 13.77 seconds.

Fifth spot of the race was secured by Barbara Jardin, who remained only 0.02 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 13.79 seconds.

On the other hand, Grevers secured the title of equivalent event in Men’s corner. The 27-year-old Grevers faced no trouble form his toughest challenger and touched the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 58.84 seconds.

The champion was chased by Tyler Clary, who stayed almost two and a half body lengths behind and tapped the wall for silver medal by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 01.02 seconds.

Clary was trailed by Arkady Vyatchanin, who stayed 2.80 seconds slower and stepped on the finishing end for bronze medal with an effort of 2 minutes and 03.82 seconds.

The third fastest swimmer was chased by Bobby Bollier, who remained 1.50 seconds slower and settled on the finishing end for fourth position holder by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 05.32 seconds.

In addition, winners were awarded accolades at the prize ceremony of the tournament.
