Money was key behind the deal with Los Angeles Dodgers, admits Zack Greinke

At-least Dodgers’ newest starter Zack Greinke is somewhat honest saying his latest stint with Los Angeles Dodgers was certainly a matter of money and if some other franchise would have offered him more, he certainly could have signed with them.

“It’s obviously the No. 1 thing,” Greinke said. “I could play for the worst team if they paid the most … If the last place team offers $200 million and the first-place team offers $10, I’m going to go for the $200-million no matter what team it was.”

He added, “If I lie I forget what I said the first time. I won’t remember the lie. I don’t know how people do it,”

Along with the Dodgers, the Texas Rangers also pursued Greinke hard but did not make the offer that huge like the Los Angeles made.

“It’s boring watching American League games to me,” Greinke said commenting on his previous years with the Angels and Milwaukee. “With the Angels we had [Mike] Trout, [Albert] Pujols, [Mark] Trumbo, [Kendrys] Morales and [Torii] Hunter, but it wasn’t as much fun as watching Milwaukee’s team. There’s much more strategy.”

Saying further he explained, “I don’t know anyone who likes the American League games better. Maybe some fans do. But if you’re not an actual DH, you probably prefer the National League. Once I went to Milwaukee, it wasn’t as great, I found my goal wasn’t to pitch a good game and get a couple hits, it was to pitch a good game.”

Greinke was traded into Los Angeles Angels in July 2012 by the Milwaukee Brewers organisation. In a split season, Greinke still managed to achieve consistent numbers of 3.48 ERA along with 15-5 win loss, 200 strikeouts and 1.20 WHIP.

Zack Greinke, an All Star and former Royals’ Minor League discovery, is considered one of the best offensive players in the big league. He knows his game very well and his latest association with the Los Angeles Dodgers will certainly boost-up their morale in fresh 2013 MLB outing.
