Tien Chen Chou tames Erik Meijs in Men’s Singles first round at Yonex German Open 2013

The higher ranked Tien Chen, who is the ninth seeded shuttler in Men’s Singles category in the championship, played with tremendous speed and precision and managed to show exit to his Dutch rival in a lopsided fashion.
Taipei shuttler was on a different level as he did not show any mercy to Erik at any stage in the battle and easily finished it up in straight games with a commanding margin of 21-12 and 21-13 while taking the court time for just 27 minutes.
The lower ranked Erik, on the other hand, failed to respond well to the power play of his experienced Taipei challenger. He could not put up strong resistance at any stage throughout this Men’s Singles battle and crashed out without making his presence strongly felt.
Tien Chen played with superb control in his shots and managed to take over the pace of rallies from initial rallies of the opening set.
The phenomenal variations in Tien Chen’s strokes helped him to continue his domination against his challenger on court.
It was Tien Chen who showed no mercy to his passionate challenger in the first part and secured a comfortable lead in the arena.
After the mid-game interval, Tien Chen was focused in the arena and remained successful in keeping a sound lead.
It was a smooth sailing for the in-form Tien Chen who did not face any reasonable resistance from his rival and won the first set with a stunning 21-12 margin on the board.
Things were similar in the second set of this entertaining fight as Tien Chen played in the similar aggressive fashion.
Tien Chen displayed his lofty craft in the arena by taking the bird early from all corners and maintained his upper hand over his opponent.
The planned and positive play in the concluding part of second set helped Tien Chen to grab the set with a superb 21-13 margin on the board.
