CEC launches voters’ verification SMS service
Friday, March 1st, 2013 8:16:51 by Tahir KhanThe Election Commission of Pakistan has launched an SMS service of Code number 8300 to facilitate the general public for verification of their votes through their cell phones in February, 2012, the Commission said Friday.
By using this service, the eligible voters are able to send Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) number (without hash or space) on 8300 and in response, the voters receive through reply text message the voting details like CNIC No., Electoral Area name, Block Code, Tehsil/District and Serial Number.
In order to guide and provide information to those persons who are not registered as voters so far, this SMS service will now provide contact number/s of concerned District Election Commissioner /Registration Officer in the reply text message so that these persons may contact the concerned Registration Officer to get necessary information for registration of their vote.
The Commission also released the Final Electoral Rolls 2012 (Voter Stats as on 27th Feb 2013).
