Wang Yihan destroys local hopes to wrap up Women’s Singles title at German Open 2013

China’s impressive shuttler Wang Yihan continued her staggering run in the arena and wrapped up Women’s Singles title after defeating her local challenger Juliane Schenk in the final match of the Yonex German Open 2013 in Germany, on Sunday, March 3.

The second seeded Yihan, who remained in complete command all the way to the final, continued her smashing run against the home favourite Schenk overpowered her in a lopsided fashion by working for just 34 minutes on court.

Yihan played with impressive speed and precision in the arena as she remained in confident in her smart play. She did not lose her focus at any stage in the final battle and finished it up in straight sets with a completely commanding 21-14 and 21-13 score on the board.

On the other hand, the third seeded Schenk tried her best to continue her winning run in front of her home fans but failed to maintain her rhythm. She played many negative shots on crucial occasions in the title battle and eventually went down against the mighty opponent in a one-sided manner.

The unmatched speed and attacking shots of Yihan helped her to take control of the pace from the starting rallies of first set. She kept the pace of rallies quite fast at the initial stage and stayed in command.

Until the end of starting half of starting set, the in-form Yihan attained a strong position on board by establishing a reasonable lead.

The match proceeded in the same fashion after the one-minute interval as Yihan did not lose her focus on court. She sailed smoothly and did not face any reasonable trouble in winding up the opening game with a convincing 21-14 margin on the board.

Schenk was once again in all sorts of trouble in the second game as she received a cruel treatment from her rival who was flawless on court.

Yihan entertained the crowd with her unparalleled craft that assisted her to keep pressure on her challenger who failed to produce good form.

The aggressive and positive play in the concluding part of second set assisted Yihan to earn the set with a huge margin of 21-13 and sealed off a comprehensive win.
