Wednesday, March 6th, 2013 9:29:09 by Tahir KhanThe opposition Pakistan Muslim league (PML-N) on Wednesday proposed three names for the caretaker Prime Minister, who will lead the interim setup after the dissolution of current assemblies on March 16.
The opposition has proposed names in line with the constitutional provisions and the government will also share their names with the opposition.
If both could not agree on one name then the matter will be referred to the Chief Election Commissioner, who will nominate a caretaker Prime Minister.
Leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan announced three names — Justice Nasir Alsam Zahid, Shakirullah Jan, both former Supreme Court’s judges and Rasul Bakhsh Palijo, a senior nationalist leader from Sindh province.
Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf last month wrote a letter to Nisar asking him to propose a list of nominees for a care taker Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister had asked the opposition that the names for care taker set up should be selected prior to the dissolution of the National Assembly due next month.
The caretaker government will supervise parliamentary elections in tow months after the dissolution of the assemblies.
Khan said the proposed names will be forwarded to the Prime Minister on Thursday.
He said these names have been finalized in consultation with all opposition parties, adding consultations have also been made with those parties which have no representation in the Parliament.
