Tuesday, March 12th, 2013 3:59:36 by Ammad KhawajaChina’s talented female campaigners Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang F forged fruitful chemistry in the final round of Yonex All England Open Badminton Championships and became Women’s Doubles champion on March 10, 2013.
They locked horns with a compatriot duo Cheng Shu-Zhao Yunlei and their meeting lasted for 26 minutes in local badminton complex of Birmingham.
The top ranked Chinese duo played impeccable badminton and locked the honour with an impressive result of 21-18 and 21-10.
Meanwhile, the other finalist team also put great show of skills and walked tall despite of losing the title match.
In first set of the match, Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang prevailed in the establishing rallies and established a decent lead in no time.
The twosome of Cheng and Zhao Yunlei was not prepared for such an intensive attack and both partners remained busy just in returning the masterly crafted strokes of their challengers.
Things became worse for them when the opposing team injected more intensity in its attack and made a significant difference on the points table.
Though, Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang lost grip in the final moments but then few back-to-back productive rallies helped them to register a winning margin of 21-18.
The following game proved a dead contest as Cheng and Zhao hardly showed any resistance and surrendered tamely.
On the other hand, the other Chinese duo showed consistency in its performance and wrapped this segment of the showdown in a favourable manner.
Initially, Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang played with a cautious approach but then they gained the right momentum and left the opposing shuttlers far behind.
They mounted pressure by piling up a total of 11 and then served notice of their supremacy by putting an overwhelming figure of 21-10.
