Chicago White Sox management has finally decided that starting pitcher Chris Sale will be their Opening Day Starter on April 1st against the Kansas City Royals.

“We feel very confident giving him the ball for the first start, It’s something to motivate him the last two weeks to get out there and go. He’s ready to do that,” White Sox manager Robin Ventura told reporters afterward about Sale, who will face the visiting Royals on April 1.

Later Sale said after his outing without referring to the opening day not, “I have one goal in mind, and that’s preparing myself for opening day, the next day or three, four days after that, Wherever I fall in, I’m going to pitch. My main thing is to focus on what happened, take the positives from this and learn from it, not have it be a setback.”

Sale added, “My knees are shaking just thinking about it, It’s going to be fun, going up there and having our fans from day one. You know the Cell is going to  be electric and the fans will be screaming, going nuts. Against the division rival, so it will be fun how it shakes out and we’ll give it everything we got.”

Experts and some White Sox insiders believe that Sale was chosen by the entire management after they evaluated his last season’s extraordinary performance in which he stood tall against all the big hitters of league.

“I’m definitely going to have to collect myself, that’s for sure, Stay focused and take a lot of deep breaths. The last couple opening days I’ve said I feel like a kid in a candy shop. It’s one of those days, it’s fun, it’s excitement, it’s the energy around. Everyone’s excited, the fans are going nuts. And being a part of that now could be overwhelming. I’m going to do everything I can to collect my thoughts and stand on an even plane,” said Sale.

Sale further added with light comments, “I called my dad the other day and said, ‘when am I going to wake up? When’s the wakeup call coming? It’s a lot to take in, but I’m certainly appreciative of everything. I know what’s gone on doesn’t happen to a lot of people, so I’ve noticed that and taken that in. I trying to appreciate this and show that I appreciate it.”

In the last outing, Sale achieved consistent numbers of 3.05 ERA along with 17-8 win loss, 192 strikeouts and 1.14 WHIP. Overall he has also career best numbers of 2.89 ERA along with 21-11 win loss, 303 strikeouts and 1.12 WHIP.
