Pakistan, Egypt ink five cooperation agreements
Monday, March 18th, 2013 2:55:02 by Tahir KhanPakistan and Egypt Monday signed five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on an Executive programme for cooperation in different fields, officials said.
The agreements were signed after the visiting Egyptian President, Dr. Mohamed Morsy and his Pakistani counterpart held bilateral talks in Islamabad.
The two Presidents witnessed the signing ceremony at the Presidency.
The Egyptian ambassador to Pakistan Saeed Hindam and Secretary of Pakistani officials representing several departments signed the documents.
The MoUs relate to cooperation in the field of Money Orders and International Postal Services; Cooperation in the field of Merchant Shipping; MoU between Board of Investment of Pakistan and General Authority of Free Zones and Investment of Egypt; cooperation between Middle East News Agency and Associated Press of Pakistan‚ the 3rd Executive Programme for Scientific and Technological Cooperation between Pakistan and Egypt for 2013 to 2015; and MoU between Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority of Pakistan and Special Fund for Development of Egypt.
Earlier the Egyptian President arrived in Islamabad on a day-long state visit at the invitation of President Zardari .
President Morsy is the first civilian, democratically and freely elected President of Egypt to visit Pakistan. The last bilateral visit was by late Gamal Abdel Nasser in the 1960s.
President Morsy was presented Guard of Honour at the Presidency by a contingent of Pakistani forces. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister were present on the occasion.
The Egyptian President is leading a high powered delegation, the Foreign Ministry says.
The two president had one-on-one meeting that was followed by delegation level talks and banquet/luncheon hosted President Zardari.
