Hoeness: Guardiola should win every match
Wednesday, March 20th, 2013 2:18:30 by Rizwan KazmiThe former West Germany international has high expectations from Pep Guardiola ahead of his arrival at the Allianz Arena next season, with hopes in Bavaria really high
Bayern Munich club president Uli Hoeness claims former FC Barcelona head coach Pep Guardiola’s objective is easy which is to win all games. Der FCB announced at the start of the year that the former player will replace current boss Jupp Heynckes in the summer. He further added that he only talks publicly when Die Roten lose a match.
“I only talk when we lose,” the 61-year-old told Kicker during an interview.
“It’s simple for Pep. All he has to do is to win every game, then no one will say anything!
“I’m a 100 per cent sure that he’ll feel comfortable [at Bayern]. I can guarantee that Pep will have no problems with us, as we’re on the same wavelength,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
“It’s important to win titles, but at least equally as important is to find somebody with a philosophy. Every team in the world fancies getting Guardiola with his philosophy,” he explained.
“The deciding factor was our philosophy, which is close to that of Barcelona,” he added.
“We’ve had many good coaches: Udo Lattek, Ottmar Hitzfeld, Jupp Heynckes. Van Gaal has been a very good one, while Jurgen Klinsmann was a bad trainer,” he mused.
“It wasn’t easy to get the club back on track after Klinsmann departed. Van Gaal did it, however,” he finally concluded.
Hoeness claimed Pep will be eased into at the club, and he will face no problems for the board. On the other hand, he stressed that it is vital to win silverware, but also important to have a manager that has a distinct philosophy. Also, several teams wanted to sign the talented coach as well.
