Committee members claim progress on caretaker PM name
Thursday, March 21st, 2013 3:49:24 by Tahir KhanMembers of the parliamentary committee, tasked to create consensus on the name of a caretaker Prime Minister, Thursday ended without making any decision, however claimed substantial progress.
Syed Khurshid Shah, Farooq Naek of the PPP and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain of the PML-Q, hoped they will resolve the issue at the committee.
They told reporters that they are hopeful the issue will not be referred to the Chief Election Commissioner.
“We have made progress on the name but we cannot share with the media,” Khurshid Shah said after the meeting.
“We have good discussion and made a substantial progress,” he stressed. He said both sides had detailed discussions on each other’s names.
“Both will come up with clarifications of questions on Friday,” he added. He said there should be no doubts about the elections after the scheduled was announced.
Khurshid said that political people will take political decisions.
Shujaat Hussain said on the occasion that he is hopeful that the members will reach about a name on Friday.
The second session of the Parliamentary committee to nominate to caretaker Prime Minister ended in Islamabad without reaching on any conclusion.
The committee discussed nominations of Dr. Ishrat Hussain and Retired Justice Nasir Aslam Zahid while it had discussed the names of Retired Justice Mir Hazar Khan Khoso and Rasool Bux Palejo yesterday.
The fourth session of the committee will be held at 10.30 a.m., on Friday.
