Arsenal striker, Theo Walcott, is eyeing for a bigger goals target with Arsenal.
The English striker started the season as a super sub because of his long term future at Arsenal. He wasn’t agreeing for a new contract and was out of the starting eleven. However, his spectacular football skills led him into the starting line-up again.
He fired brilliantly into the net against Southampton and West Ham United as a substitute. However, he fired a hat-trick against Reading in the capital One Cup in late October which sealed his place in the starting eleven with the Gunners.
The England International, Walcott kept his momentum rolling and he netted goals against Schalke, Tottenham, Everton and Reading again. After these matches, he blasted another hat-trick against the Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium. His performance led his tally to 14 goals from only 11 starts.
On January 18, Walcott penned down a new deal with Arsenal which eased the pain on Arsenal’s boss Arsene Wenger. He is enjoying his best campaign with the Red Army and when asked what changed this time, Walcott reflected in an interview:
“I’m getting in more goalscoring situations, and I seem to be taking more of them too. So the goalscoring side has been even better. The last two years have been good for a winger in terms of goals, but this year has definitely stood out. I’ve just enjoyed scoring, creating chances for players and I’m staying fit, which is important as well.”
With his performance, Walcott’s confidence is boosted this season. He commented further in the interview to the Arsenal Player:
“Yeah, I feel like I can create opportunities – that even if I’m not in the game for a patch, I would be able to come up with something. I’ve learned more about the defensive side of the game and about formations over the years. “
