Robben set his sights on the Champions League
Friday, March 22nd, 2013 4:14:58 by Rizwan KazmiThe Netherlands international is looking forward to win the Champions League this time around after failing to win the competition a number of times in the past
Bayern Munich right winger Arjen Robben is eager for UEFA Champions League glory following his tragic in the final of the competition twice in the last three years. The influential midfielder failed to convert an extra time penalty in last year’s final against Chelsea FC at the Allianz Arena which they eventually lost.
“I’ll give everything in my power to win the Champions League,” he told the club’s official website.
“I’ve contested two Champions League finals with Bayern, and two semi-finals with Chelsea. But at the end of the day, you have to go on and win the cup at some point,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
“We’re in the quarter-finals again, so we’re in good shape. But when you look at the clubs who are still in it, you know it’s going to be very, very hard again this season,” the former Chelsea FC and Real Madrid star added.
“If you’re aiming for the final, you have to beat the likes of Juventus. It could have been better, but it could have been worse, too,” he continued.
“Juventus are brilliantly organised in defence and also boast immense quality up front. It’ll be tough, and we’ll probably have to be patient. We’ll have to try and prise them apart with our creativity,” he mused
“We can expect two great games,” he finally concluded.
Therefore, he is desperate to change this around. He stated that he will do his best to help the Bavarian giants win Europe’s premier cup competition. He further added so far they have reached the quarter finals and look in great shape to make a challenge for the top honour.
