Thursday, March 28th, 2013 12:54:13 by Ammad KhawajaIndia’s Chetan Anand had to bid adieu to Ciputra Hanoi Vietnam International Challenge as he failed to clear his first hurdle in Men’s Singles event on Thursday March 28, 2013.
He was up against a Thai campaigner Pannawit Thongnuam who locked the honour with an impressive result of 21-17 and 21-10.
This encounter prolonged to 30 minutes and both shuttlers earned great deal of admiration for putting a splendid show of badminton skills.
Though, Chetan Anand took off in perfect manner in both sets but his fluctuated performance brought him down.
On the other hand, Pannawit showed great consistency in his performance and sealed a straight-set victory in a commendable manner.
The battle heated up when both contenders put all they had to gain an early advantage in first set. However, neither of them could establish a permanent lead in the preliminary stage of game.
The Thai shuttler did not lose focus and prevailed in couple of consecutive rallies before the interval. This productive flow helped him to register a respectable score before the half time.
After the mid-game break, Pannawit lost grip for a short span of time when Chetan launched an intensive attack but he reinstated his dominance when it mattered and placed a winning margin of 21-17.
Next game proved a one-sided affair as the experienced Indian shuttler could not come out of his rival’s influence and crashed out of the event.
Chetan Anand looked bewildered straight away from the first shot and he remained at the lower end until last stroke was played.
Meanwhile, Pannawit relished full benefits of his first set win and served a notice of his supremacy. At first, he raised the chances of his success by putting a figure of 11 and then locked the honour with an overwhelming score of 21-10.
