Saeed Ajmal in danger of having hernia

Pakistan’s premier spin bowler, Saeed Ajmal has revealed that he has been suffering from pain in his lower abdomen and there are chances that he has hernia. In that case, the great off-spinner will have to go through a surgery before the Green Shirts visit Scotland next month.

Over the last couple of years, the cricketer from Faisalabad has emerged as the leading spinner in the world of cricket, having done brilliantly in all three formats of the game. The off-spinner played a huge role in Pakistan’s historic victory last year against England in UAE, as Misbah-ul-Haq and company whitewashed the Poms.

Due to the pain in his lower abdomen, Ajmal is not taking part in the on-going Faysal Bank Super 8 T20 Tournament 2013 in Lahore, where he was supposed to represent Faisalabad Wolves, who are led by none other than Misbah.

While speaking to ESPNcricinfo, the wily off-spinner expressed that he has been feeling uncomfortable since the last couple of months but the pain aggravated during the recently finished One Day International series in South Africa. Until the final reports come, doctors have advised Ajmal to rest.

“I have been suffering pain for the last couple of months in my groin,” Ajmal said. “It increased during the South Africa ODI series and now I have been advised to take rest until my doctors assess if it needs surgery.”

The experienced cricketer is of the opinion that he may have to undergo a surgery but claims that he will not miss any international matches. Pakistan is not scheduled to play any international cricket until the tour of Europe in May.

He added, “I have a feeling that I need surgery but I will wait for the doctor’s advice. I am currently in Faisalabad and scheduled to see a doctor in Lahore this week. In any case I will be fit by the next international commitment, as it is not a major operation. It normally takes two to three week of recovery time.”
