Saturday, March 30th, 2013 6:16:22 by Farasat AliBlackBerry has stabilized their standings on the Wall Street but without much enthusiasm before the publication of the results. It was a positive surprise for the American technology giants, who had been on the
verge of losing battle with Apple and Samsung with respect to smartphones.
In the last quarter, the Canadian manufacturer of mobile phones sold six million handsets, of which one million are the new model Z10 and Q10, which work with the latest version of its operating system.
The immediate reaction of the market was amazing as their shares increased to 8% before the opening, but then started declining. The firm failed to forecast revenue side for the full year, which closed on March
2, recording sales of 11,100 million (8,660 million Euros at current exchange rates), 40% less compared to the 18,400 million (14,355 million Euros) that recorded a year earlier.
The data had a difficult digestion because the critical situation that Blackberry had a year ago with having good forecasts for this year. In fact, the company made
??a loss of 646 million dollars (500 million Euros) last.
Another thing worth mentioning is the profit margin that has improved to 40% BlackBerry because they sold more expensive devices. The customer base of the company is about 76 million users, three less than a
year earlier.
"The many changes in the past year allowed us to return to profitability in the fourth quarter," said Thorsten Heins, its CEO.
Heins says that with the new structure of society are able to perform better financially with a smaller volume, "which will allow us in the future to generate more profits with more sales." But to begin to regain
lost ground in recent years against Apple and Samsung will need something else to like the faithful: to attract new customers.
