Zulfadli Zulkiffli clears first hurdle in Men’s Singles event of 2013 Australian Open

He locked horns with Thomas Ellis in the local badminton arena of Sydney and their meeting prolonged to 23 minutes before ending with decisive figures of 21-14 and 21-16.
The Malaysian campaigner raised his chances of success by winning first set and then sealed a splendid straight-set victory by claiming second match point in a row.
On the other hand, the opposing shuttler could not come out of his rival’s influence and crashed out of the event in a woeful manner.
The battle heated up when Zulfadli unleashed a series of power packed strokes and bagged many valuable points without any interruption. He did not show any mercy in next couple of rallies and doubled the trouble for his opponent.
At the mid-game break, he was way ahead of Thomas Ellis on the points table and he widened the gap immediately after the interval.
Zulfadli ruled the court in couple of consecutive rallies and strengthened his grip in third quarter of the set. This significant lead helped him to register a winning margin of 21-14.
The following game was also a one-sided affair as the Malaysian lad showed maturity in is craft and swept the table with an impressive result.
At first, he played with a cautious approach but then pushed his rival on the back foot by playing aggressive badminton.
Thomas Ellis was not prepared for such an intensive attack as he remained at the lower end throughout this crucial game.
Zulfadli finished first half of the set with a mountainous total of 11 and then sealed his victory by putting an overwhelming score of 21-16.
