Thursday, April 4th, 2013 7:56:07 by Tahir KhanA coalition forces pilot has died after his plane crashed in eastern Afghanistan, foreign forces said Thursday.
The crash site has been located and the pilot has been recovered, an ISAF statement said.
While the cause of the crash is under investigation, initial reporting indicates there was no insurgent activity in the area at the time of the crash.
However, Taliban claimed responsibility for shooting down military helicopter.
A spokesperson of the Taleban, Zabihollah Mojahed, said that the Taleban shot down a foreign forces helicopter in Dehsabz District of Kabul Province.
He added: “This helicopter was flying low in the area and it was shot down by the mojahedin of the Islamic Emirates. The area was later cordoned off by the foreign forces because of which we do not have any information about casualties in the accident,” the Afghan Islamic Press reported.
In the past two days, two foreign forces drones have crashed in Wardag and Parwan provinces and that the Taleban have claimed responsibility for shooting them down.
