If the Gunners need to qualify for next year’s UEFA Champions League, they are required to maintain their intensity at Barclays English Premier League.
Arsenal is currently standing at number fifth in the English Barclays Premier League. They are just two points behind their local rivals Chelsea and a spot for the top four. If Gunners wish to qualify for next year’s UEFA Champions League, they are required to show consistent results. They need to carry their momentum at the next match-up. Arsenal is currently out from all competitions including their most recent exit from Champions League at the hands of Bayern Munich. They levelled the scores by 3-3 but the away goal difference let them out of the competition at the last 16 stage.
Gunners unleashed their wrath against Reading last weekend just like they did on their previous encounter. Gervinho played his best and led the Gunners up in the 11th minute after tapping in from close range with a pass from Santo Cazorla. The scores stayed the same during the end of the first half.
Arsenal lifted their game in the second half. Santi Cazorla was the one who netted the ball with Gervinho returning the favour. It was not long when Olivier Giroud led his side to an unassailable lead of 3-0. Gervinho set up this goal as well.
However, two minutes later Reading snatched a goal back when Robson-Kanu headed the goal from a corner. In the 77th minute, Gunners were awarded penalty after Mariappa brought down Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Mikel Arteta took the penalty and eventually sealed the victory for Arsenal with a 4-1 score line.
Arsenal will next take on West Bromwich Albian away from their home this weekend.
