Sayaka Takahashi beats Hsiao Ma Pai in Women’s Singles semi-finals – Australian Open Update

She locked horns with Hsiao Ma Pai in the local badminton arena of Sydney and their encounter prolonged to 44 minutes before ending with final figures of 21-16 and 21-15.
The Japanese campaigner, who holds seventh spot in the tournament ranking, laid foundation of her dominance by winning the first set and then served the notice of her supremacy by sealing a straight-set victory.
Meanwhile, Hsiao Ma also showed great fighting spirit and walked tall despite of losing this crucial match.
In first set of the match, Sayaka unleashed a flurry of power packed strokes and pushed the opposing shuttler on back foot. She bagged many valuable points in a row and strengthened her grip over game.
The Taipei shuttler was not prepared for such an intensive attack as she remained at the lower end in most part of the game.
Sayaka Takahashi finished first half of the set with a mountainous figure of 11 and then wrapped this segment of the showdown with a favourable score position of 21-16.
Next game proved just a replay of previous one as the Japanese player did not make any mistake and stole the limelight with a stunning performance.
Initially, Hsiao Ma showed some resilience and created some challenge for her rival but then a strong backlash from Sayaka Takahashi cast her away.
Before the announcement of break, Sayaka was in commanding position with a decent total and she capitalised this psychological edge in latter part of the game.
She registered a winning margin of 21-15 and marched into the final round of Australian Open where Nichaon Jindapon will take on her.
