Bomb blast kills ANP leader in Swat
Sunday, April 14th, 2013 3:56:01 by Tahir KhanA bomb attack Sunday killed an ‘Awami National Party’ (ANP) leader in Swat, raising concerns about attacks on the political leaders ahead of the May 11 elections, police said.
Mukram Shah came under attack when he was going in his car in Swat valley, a police officer said.
The car was hit by the roadside bomb that was exploded via remote controlled device, police officer, Abdullah Jan said.
Shah died at the scene and his car was completely destroyed, witnesses said.
Slain Mukarram was a member of the peace committee in Swat, which had once been, a stronghold of the Taliban.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack. The police say Taliban are behind the attack.
Taliban had warned to target leaders of the ANP and two other parties during campaign for the May 11 elections.
Taliban shot dead a candidate of the Mutahida Qaumi Movement in Hyderabad city in southern Sindh province few days ago.
Another leader of ANP was injured in a bomb attack in Peshawar few days ago.
The Interior Ministry had warned the Taliban could carry out attacks in parts of the country during elections.
