PM Khoso for addressing security loop holes
Friday, April 19th, 2013 11:45:31 by Tahir KhanPrime Minister, Mir Hazar Khan Khoso, has asked the Ministry of Interior and Home departments in the provinces and FATA to lay additional emphasis on addressing loop holes in security.
“We should all do our utmost effort to plug all holes that can affect or disrupt the electoral process,” the Prime Minister told a high level meeting in Islamabad on Friday.
The law and order meeting was called to review the security situation ahead of the May 11 elections as bomb attacks have killed and injured dozens of election campaigners.
Pakistani Taliban have warned to target the meetings of the ANP, PPP and MQM for what they say their secular policies.
“As we are approaching the Election Day, law and order situation in becoming a challenging task for the care taker government. It is the duty and obligation of the government to provide a conducive atmosphere for the conduct of fair and transparent elections,” Prime Minister Khoso said.
He said it is heartening to note that all the political parties, representing all shades of political spectrum, have decided to be part of the mainstream political process, according to the PM office statement.
“This shows their confidence in the democratic dispensation. However this confidence has seriously affected due to recent killings of the prominent party candidates belonging to major political parties”.
He said there is a need to restore/strengthen the confidence by assuring and ensuring a peaceful environment for the elections and maintaining law and order.
Chief Minister Punjab, Mr. Najam Sethi, Chief Minister Balochistan, Nawab Ghaus Bukhsh Barozai and Chief Minister Khyber Pukhtoonkwa Mr. Justice (R) Tariq Pervez and senior security officials attended the meeting.
The Chief Minister also met Prime Minister Justice at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat this morning and discussed the over all political situation, in particular the law and order, prevailing in the country.
