U.S. envoys commends Pakistan’s transition process

He was talking to Prime Minister Justice (R) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso at Prime Minister House.
While talking to the Ambassador, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan and the United States enjoy good bilateral relations.
The Prime Minister reiterated that the care taker government will support and do all what it takes to hold free, fair and transparent elections in the country. The care taker government, he said, was extending all possible assistance to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the conduct of general elections in the country.
Referring to the energy crisis in the country, the Prime Minister said that his government was taking all possible steps to improve the energy situation in the country. In this connection, he said, he had held several meetings and the government was taking all possible measures to ease the situation.
“We look towards our friends particularly the USA to help us in overcoming the energy crisis”, he added.
The Ambassador informed the Prime Minister that the government of USA was supporting Diamer-Basha Dam and was funding its feasibility studies.
Similarly the U.S government, he added, was closely working on thermal and hydel projects which will inject 1000 MW of generation in the national grid.
Mr. Richard G. Olson briefed the Prime Minister on the recently held trilateral talks in Brussels between Pakistan, Afghanistan and the United States of America which were hosted by the U.S.
Mr. Richard G. Olson said that there was a long history of partnership and important bilateral relationship between the two countries. Both the governments, said the Ambassador, were working for building a long term relationship, he added.
