Several injured as pre-election violence continues in country

A National Assembly candidate, Ibrahim Jatoi escaped unharmed in a suicide bombing in Sindh province as he was campaigning. Three people were injured while the bomber died at the scene.
The bomber riding a motorbike hit the vehicle of Jatoi, who represents National Peoples Party or NPP in Shikarpur district.
The party is not on Taliban hit-list, raising questions about the expansion of attacks on politicians. No group claimed responsibility and no group claimed responsibility.
In Balochistan, unidentified men fired ten rockets at the election rally of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam party in Harnai district on Wednesday, injuring seven people, police said.
Police said the rockets were fired from an unknown location. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
In Swat valley, an election candidate of the Awami National Party (ANP) escaped an attack, police said.
According to initial reports, unidentified gunmen opened fire on the convoy of Wajid Ali Khan, who is contesting on PK-80 constituency in Swat. Khan belongs to Awami National Party, which Taliban will remain under attack for its support to the security forces.
The Taliban have also threatened the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and for their ‘secular doctrine’ and support for military operations in the tribal regions.
A rights group said this week that Taliban have killed nearly 50 people and injured over 100 in a week across Pakistan.
