Election Commission launches voters’ e-ticket service
Monday, May 6th, 2013 3:09:46 by Tahir KhanThe Election Commission of Pakistan on Monday introduced E-Ticket Service having serial number and block code of the voters.
The service was launched at the Election Commission office in Islamabad.
On this occasion‚ Member ECP Punjab‚ Justice (R) Riaz Kayani said earlier all these details were provided by the political parties‚ but after the Supreme Court decision‚ the commission is providing these services to voters on their mobile phones. He said there will be a ban on issuance of paper ticket on polling day.
Replying to a question‚ he said Army and other law enforcing agencies will ensure foolproof security on polling day. He said high turnouts will increase our credibility.
ECP Member Balochistan Justice (R) Fazl-ur-Rehman said issues of teachers who were previously denying performing their duties on polling stations have been resolved.
Talking to media on this occasion Secretary Election Commission Ishtiak Ahmad Khan said that the voters could inquire about their constituency and details of polling stations through SMS on 8300 by sending their Computerized National Identity Card Number.
He said the polling stations‚ polling constituencies have been linked up with the SMS.
He said Election Commission is making all decisions unanimously. He said there is no possibility to steal the ballot papers. He said efforts are underway to motivate voters and increase their turn out in the next general elections.
Secretary said ECP has trained seven hundred and twenty thousand polling staff in assistance with donors who will perform their duties for elections.
Talking about the load-shedding‚ Ishtiak Ahmad Khan said after release of 45 billion rupees by the government‚ load-shedding has been reduced and there will be no load-shedding on 10th and 11th May.
