British High Commissioner takes note of Altaf Hussain remarks

British High Commissioner Adam Thomson has taken note of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain’s remarks about “separating Karachi.”

Altaf Husain, while criticizing the establishment, in his telephonic address to his supporters from London, this week said  that they would separate Karachi if the MQM mandate was not accepted.

Thousands of complaints were sent to the London metropolitan police after Altaf addressed his supporters in Karachi where he allegedly threatened PTI supporters who were protesting against rigging.

Altaf also said that Karachi should be separated from Pakistan if the mandate given to the MQM by the people is not acceptable.

The statements created anger across the country, and Jamaat-e-Islami urged the army chief and the chief justice to take of Altaf’s remarks.

The MQM as its tradition denies Altaf remarks when the people start condemning anti-Pakistan statement.

Thomson said that the London police are looking into the complaints and may take notice of it soon.

On Tuesday, rumors gripped Pakistan that Altaf has been taken into custody, however reports appeared that the self-exile leader is sick.

He again addressed his supporters in Karachi early Wednesday who are protesting against the Election Commission’s decision to hold re-polling on nearly 40 polling stations in defence area.

The British High Commissioner said May 11 general elections were the best in the history of Pakistan.

He said that elections would play an important role in the development of Pakistan.
