MQM call for NA-250 re-polling rejected
Friday, May 17th, 2013 7:23:28 by Tahir KhanThe Election Commission Friday rejected MQM’s request for re-polling in the entire NA-250 Karachi constituency.
The Commission while hearing the request in Islamabad said that re-polling will be held only in 43 polling stations.
The MQM had opposed the ECP move and also staged sit-in in Karachi for several days.
Meanwhile‚ Chairman PTI Imran Khan’s complaint against the alleged rigging in NA-122 Lahore was also rejected by the Returning Officer.
The Returning Officer has asked the applicant to contact the Election Tribunal regarding the complaint.
The ECP ordered for recounting of votes in NA-19 Haripur on May 22. The application for recounting was submitted by PML-N losing candidate Omar Ayub.
Raja Amir Zaman of PTI had won the election in the constituency.
The Election Commission also ordered for recounting of votes in over 200 polling stations in NA 168 Vehari-II.
