Bomb attack kills 10 security men, 2 civilians in Quetta
Thursday, May 23rd, 2013 9:45:40 by Tahir KhanA bomb attack Thursday hit a convoy of security personnel near Quetta, killing at least 10 security men and inured over a dozen others, officials said.
The bomb was attached to a rickshaw and was parked along the road and exploded as the convoy was passed in the outskirts of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, Fayyaz Ahmad, Deputy Inspector General operations, said.
Two civilians were also killed in the attack, he told reporters at the site.
The bomb targeted the vehicle of Rapid Response Force, Ahmad said.
The bomb attack injured 15 security men, who were shifted to the military hospital. Four injured were registered critical.
The vehicle was also destroyed in the attack.
Experts from the bomb disposal squad said that nearly 100 kg explosives were used in the bomb.
TV footage showed wreckage of the destroyed vehicle and the security personnel cordoned off the area.
No group claimed responsibility. Militants and insurgent groups are blamed for such attacks.
