US drone kills 7 people in North Waziristan
Friday, June 7th, 2013 10:27:36 by Tahir KhanAn American spy aircraft fired missiles into North Waziristan tribal region and killed at least seven persons late Friday, official sources said.
The drone aircraft fired two missiles on a house in Datta Khel area of North Waziristan, bordering Afghanistan, they said.
The house was completely destroyed in the strike, the second in North Waziristan in ten days.
The deputy chief of Pakistani Taliban, Wali-ur-Rehman was killed in a US strike last week.
There was no information about the identity of the slain people in the Friday’s strike.
The strike comes two days after Pakistan new Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, called an end to the drone strike.
The U.S. has ignored Pakistan’s repeated calls for a halt to the drone campaign, describing the mission as key to the campaign against the militants.
Pakistan insists the drone attacks are counterproductive and violation of the country’s sovereignty.
Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan or TTP withdrew their peace dialogue offer over the last week strike which had killed their deputy, Wali-ur-Rehman.
Wali-ur-Rehman was considered strong supporter of talks with the government to end the bloodshed in the country, which has claimed nearly 50,000 people since Pakistan joined the US-led war in 2001
