PM says govt to address to power load-shedding

Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Monday said the government is committed to address the issue of power load shedding.

 

In his inaugural address to the first meeting of the federal cabinet in Islamabad‚ he said the government will take all possible measures to improve the electricity supply situation and reduce load shedding in the minimum possible time.

 

Nawaz Sharif said the new government will devise a consensus strategy in consultation with all the stakeholders to overcome terrorism.

 

He said corruption will not be tolerated at any cost and each one will have to show his performance for the betterment of the people.

 

The Prime Minister urged the members of the cabinet to work for reducing state expenditures. He said each public servant is bound to ensuring puncuality in office for public service.

 

Nawaz Sharif said the new government will have to give solid performance as there is no room for any inefficiency.

 

Referring to the manifesto of Pakistan Muslim League (N)‚ Nawaz Sharif said this envisages reduction of thirty percent in expenditures. He said we should reduce our expenditures more than the figure mentioned in the manifesto.

 

The Prime Minister directed cabinet members to prepare plan of action and set targets within fifteen days and take sold steps to achieve those targets.

 

He said that the country is facing grave challenges including load shedding‚ price hike‚ poverty‚ economic destruction‚ terrorism‚ extremism and unemployment which need joint and dedicated efforts to address them.

 

Nawaz Sharif said he is of firm view that only a strong government can tackle the challenges being faced by the country.

 

He said effective measure will have to be taken to transform public sector enterprises into profit earning entities‚ otherwise these should be handed over to private sector.
