Deputy Commissioner Abdul Mansoor Khan killed in hospital attack
Saturday, June 15th, 2013 5:24:20 by Tahir KhanA group of seven heavily armed men stormed into Bolan Medical Complex and detonated bombs and opened fire inside the hospital, killing deputy commissioner Quetta Abdul Mansoor Khan Kakar and nine other people.
Assistant Commissioner was also injured in the attack.
The armed men, whose affiliation was unclear, entered the hospital shortly after a deadly bomb attack on the bust of a women university killed 11 students and injured nearly 20 others.
As slain Kakar reached the hospital to inquire about the health of the injured students the armed men forced entry into the Bolan Medical Complex and detonated bombs and started firing.
The armed men took positions in the hospital and started exchange of firing with the police from inside the hospital.
The quick response force of the army and paramilitary troops were called out to help the police fight the miscreants.
The security forces, backed by the armoured personnel carrier, entered the hospital the building to fight the miscreants.
Gunshots were being heard in the area as the firing forced a large number of people and patients to remain indoors.
Army’s helicopters also started flying over the area to frustrate the escape of the armed men.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
Earlier a bomb blast on a bus of the women university in Quetta city killed at least 11 students and injured over 15 others on Saturday, police and rescue team said.
The bomb was attached to the bus and the device exploded when the bus was standing at the parking, a police officer and the college administration said.
According to police sources the bomb exploded when the students were boarding in the bus for their homes. After the explosion the bus caught fire and completely destroyed.
The bus of the government’s Sardar Bahadar Women Khan University was destroyed in the blast.
The 17 injured students were taken to local hospitals. Several injured were registered critical.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the blast targeting girl students’ bus.
Terming the bomb blast cowardly and inhuman, the Prime Minister prayed for the departed souls and fast recovery of the injured.
The Prime Minister said that such dastardly acts of cruelty on innocent Pakistani citizens are unacceptable and no effort will be spared to save Pakistan from such acts of terror.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has telephoned Minister for Interior Ch Nisar Ali Khan and sought details of Quetta carnage in which several people have lost their lives.
The Prime Minister conveyed his directions to the Interior Minister to immediately coordinate with the Balochistan Government and extend maximum assistance from the Federal Government’s law enforcement agencies to the government of Balochistan to control this unfortunate situation.
