Miscreants attack Quaid-e-Azam’s Ziyarat residency
Saturday, June 15th, 2013 9:30:30 by Tahir KhanA group of miscreants lobbed bombs at the residency of founder of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Balochistan province early Saturday, officials said.
The miscreants stated to be four to five attackers struck the building in Ziyarat area with three hand grenades and time devices on the building at 1:30 a.m., and escaped, Deputy Commission, Nadeem Tahir said.
The wooden structure and furniture were completely burnt as there is no fight fighter in the area to extinguish fire on time, he said. Fire tenders were called from other area later who extinguished the fire.
Jinnah spend spent his final days in the residency built in 1892 and is a national monument.
The terrorists also fired at the police guards of the building, killing one of them. Another was injured, the deputy commissioner said.
The miscreants fled after the attack and Tahir said the local police forces conducted a search operation, however, no one has been arrested so far.
No group claimed responsibility.
The deputy police officer, Asghar Ali, said that the security forces also recovered six bombs. Experts from the bomb disposal squad defused the bombs and avoided further destruction.
Guards said as five to six bombs went off inside the residency, they saw a man fleeing through the residency parking lot. The security officials said they fired at him.
