PPP invites MQM to join Sindh govt
Sunday, June 16th, 2013 8:55:46 by Tahir KhanA PPP delegation Sunday visited the MQM headquarters in Karachi and formally invited the MQM to join the Sindh government.
Former Interior Minister Rehman Malik, along with other PPP leaders, met the MQM leaders and discussed the future cooperation.
The MQM leaders told the PPP team that the party’s Rabita Committee will discuss the issue and make a decision according to their party workers’ suggestions.
Both had been coalition partners at center and Sindh government till March this year. Malik told reporters that the MQM and PPP must join hands to improve the situation in Karachi.
Malik said PPP keeping in view the reconciliation policy have asked the MQM to joint hand with us in Sindh so we can serve the masses better.
The MQM leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said we welcome the invitation‚ however‚ it would take the decision after consulting with workers‚ supporters and its leaders.
“We informed the PPP delegation about our concerns on the target killings of our workers”.
He aid that the meeting between the two sides took place in a pleasant atmosphere. He, however, added that any decision to join the Sindh government would be taken only after seeking opinion of the MQM workers and supporters.
Siddiqui said that the MQM had conveyed its reservations to the PPP delegation during the meeting.
Demanding an end to extra judicial killing of MQM workers, he said that he also discussed issue of eight missing workers of the party.
Pir Mazharul Haq said on the occasion that the PPP and MQM have scarified a lot for democracy and need to work together against violence and terrorism. He said the country needs reconciliation today more than ever.
