China ties to remain corner stone of Pakistan’s foreign policy
Saturday, June 29th, 2013 4:00:21 by Tahir KhanPrime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said Saturday that he is looking forward to his upcoming visit to China as the visit would help further strengthen the bilateral ties.
Nawaz Sharif will pay state visit to China on July 3-8 that will his first foreign trip since assuming the office of Prime Minister earlier this month.
“Friendship with China is and will remain the corner stone of Pakistan’s foreign policy and it has been a factor of peace and stability in the region,” the Pakistani Prime Minister said in a meeting with Ambassador of China, Mr. Sun Weidong called on at the Prime Minister’s House.
The Prime Minister conveyed his deepest condolences to the Chinese government, Chinese people and the effected families of the victims recently shot dead in a terror attack in Pakistan northern areas.
“The perpetrators would be brought to justice,” he affirmed, according to a statement issued from the Prime Minister’s office.
The Prime Minister said that Gwadar Port Project is the hallmark of Pak-China strategic partnership and it will bring economic dividends for both Pakistan and China.
He expressed his satisfaction that both the countries’ shared vision of establishment of Long term Economic Corridor is moving forward.
The Prime Minister said that he had established a high level task force headed by a Federal Minister to explore avenues to enhance economic cooperation with China.
Nawas Sharif said that Pakistan is committed to take Pakistan’s relations with China to an even higher level and it greatly values China’s economic support and cooperation.
The Prime Minister welcomed Mr. Sun Weidong on his appointment as Ambassador of the Peoples’ Republic of China to Pakistan, the statement said.
