PML-N brings no relief for public
Monday, July 1st, 2013 10:17:45 by Tahir KhanThe people voted for Nawaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League PML-N in the May 11 general elections with high hopes for relief however the government’s decisions over the past three weeks had been a big disappointment.
The PML-N has miserably failed to take any step to mitigate sufferings of the people at the hand of hike in prices but increased their problems. Oil prices were increased almost three times since the Prime Minister Sharif has taken over last month. CNG prices have also been increased.
Senator Ishaq Dar, a close relative of Nawaz Sharif, had a strange logic on economic issues and gifted one percent increase in the GST just days the people elected them to power. Thus was the first reward of the PML-N for the poor, many of them may have voted for the party. They would now think — voting for the PML-N was a mistake.
The PML-N Information Minister Senator Pervez Rashid issues statements similar to Rehman Malik, the PPP’s Interior Minister and a close confidant of President Asif Ali Zardari. Rashid’s statements have no substance and valid grounds, but who can stop him?
Minister for Water and Power, Khwaja Asif says power tariffs will be decreased after three years and that he will not give any time frame for an and to load-shedding.
There is no doubt that the PML-N has taken over just few weeks ago and no one can expect miracle in days. But the question is that if the new gov’t cannot give relief to the people why it multiplied problems of the people?
The performance of the new government in few weeks has set its future plans and that is how to put more burdens on the helpless people.
It is unfortunate that the PML-N leadership does not learn from the fate of the PPP. It is very easy for the rulers to come up with illogical arguments to defend its policies.
Dar was so anxious to punish the masses days after they reached the corridors of power that he hiked the GST before the budget approval. Dar defended the GST increase after criticism and the PML-N Attorney General , Munir A Milik, cited laws in the Supreme Court that the gov’t has the right to increase GST without parliament’s approval.
People were expecting sense will prevail and the new rulers will have logic to take decisions but it proved wrong. No one knows what will happen to the people in the coming days, weeks and months of the PML-N. This is very easy to say that the previous governments have destroyed the economy, an excuse to punish the people.
Mr Dar please do not punish the people for the blunders of the former government. Do not put more burdens on the people if the PML-N cannot give them relief.
Wise people take lesson from their past but I think the PML-N is no mood. The people never forget and take political revenge when time comes.

Yes. It is a miserable situation for poor Pakistanis who are hard hit with inflatory measures. PML-N lacks the will, ability and competence to bring Pakistan out of crisis economic situation.
No tax to industrial ellite and other big riches is a clear indication that PML-N party do not belong to the poor public of Pakistan.
Our new government belongs to those people who are Industrialist or Jagirdar/ landlord. In past they ruled the country badly and only cared about their selves, they made money and became extremely rich people & left the country. Now again history is repeating itself. They will do the same. Pakistan and poor Pakistanis will suffer again.
