Ephedrine case: ANF issues notices to Gilani, wife, sons
Saturday, July 6th, 2013 4:26:32 by Tahir KhanAn anti-narcotics court in Rawalpindi Saturday issued notices to former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani‚ his wife and sons Ali Musa Gilani and Abdul Qadir Gilani in the ephedrine case and directed them to submit their replies by July 13.
Notices have also been issued to fifteen other accused‚ including former Federal Minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin‚ his wife and sons with the directive to submit their replies by the deadline.
The court has also directed them to disclose their sources of income.
They are accused of making illegal assets by misusing ephedrine quota.
The case, revolving around a Rs7 billion scam, surfaced in February 2012 after the Supreme Court (SC) pointed out political involvement in the alleged illegal allocation of 9,500kg ephedrine to two pharmaceutical companies and its conversion for sale in the local market.
Tauqir Ali Khan, an accused in a case pertaining to a scam involving illegal sale of ephedrine, has agreed to become an app-rover against Ali Musa Gilani.
Tauqir Ali made this statement after he was recently presented in an anti-narcotics court in Rawalpindi by the ANF after remaining in judicial remand.
ANF, the prosecution agency in the ephedrine case, alleged that Tauqir was the front man of Musa Gilani and the mediator between health officials and two pharmaceutical companies Berlix and Danas.
