APC for national security policy postponed for more consultations
Friday, July 12th, 2013 12:19:42 by Tahir KhanAdviser to Prime Minister Sartaj Aziz has said that the All Parties’ Conference has been postponed as the government needed some more time and now it will be held before the end of the current month.
The gov’t had planned to hold the conference on July 12 and Interior Minister had extended invitations to some political leaders.
The Interior Ministry later clarified that no date has yet been decided for the moot.
Aziz told the BBC that the counter-terrorism strategy will be finalized by the end of July.
In response to a question that with the Nawaz government has hinted at talks with militants but with whom he will hold talks, Sartaj Aziz said that it is the theme of the All Parties’ Conference and it will be decided that who will talk and to whom.
He said there were no differences between the army and the civilian government regarding the counter-terrorism policy and said that both are on the same page.
There were reports that the APC has been delayed due to Imran Khan’s absence as he has gone to London from treatment.
The visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to the ISI headquarters on Thursday was part of the pre-APC discussions, sources say.
Sharif wants to seek input of the security officials ahead of the conference that will help in devising a policy of consents.

The fact is Nawaz Sharif is extremely incompetent. He has always done his politics on the basis of lies, Generals and the USA+SA and cannot devise his own strategy. I don’t see him coming up with something concrete and tangible in this regard. Its business as usual and he being a businessman himself knows it very well.
