PTI delays rally against power outages in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has delayed demonstrations against load shedding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa scheduled for Monday, the ruling party said.

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Pervez Khattak was to lead the protest.

PTI says it wants to consult other parties for joint protest.

The federal gov’t was also unhappy at the announcement made by a group of PTI MPAs, led by MPA Ziaullah Afridi at a press conference here at Press Club on Sunday.

Terming prolonged power as totally unacceptable the PTI would stage protest demonstrations across the province.

PTI MPAs had warned of rebellion as they claimed that KPK is being deprived of its due share in electricity.

They announced that protest  demonstration would be held from Monday,  if the power issue was not resolved.

They said KPK was the largest power producing province and criticised discriminate treatment.

The lawmakers  demanded immediate removal of Chief Executive PEPCO and said that the PTI would go to any extent to fulfill promises, which they have made with the people during election-2013.

Zia Ullah Afridi said the government had earlier  instructed no load-shedding would take place during Sehri, Iftar and Taraweeh timings in Ramazan, however, power outages continued in the province, he added.

Meanwhile, KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak criticized the federal government for what he termed as unschedule load shedding  during Ramazan and demanded the Federal Ministry for Water and Power to provide KP its full share of electricity.

The parliamentarians said that PTI is with its people and support them on the streets. PTI members of the KP Assembly said electricity is generated from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and it goes to Punjab. They vowed to protest against the injustice of depriving the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa people of electricity.

PTI must remember that in KP they are in the govt not sitting in oposition. If they cannot communicate with centre on electricity then they have no right to claim for a new pakistan.CM call for protest shows he is uncapable to handle the issues of province.IK must look in to affairs.
