Senate panel demands making Abbottabad Commission Report public
Wednesday, July 17th, 2013 3:19:51 by Tahir KhanThe Senate Standing Committee on Defense‚ at its meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday‚ demanded of the government to make public the report of Abbottabad Commission.
Chairman of the committee Mushahid Hussain Sayed said recommendations of the report should be implemented.
He said the report should also be presented before the parliament for framing a better strategy.
Mushahid Hussain Sayed said leakage of the Abbottabad Commission’s report damaged the image of the country.
He said that making of the report public will remove suspicion about the report.
The report appeared on Al-Jazeera website has stirred up controversy in the country as to who has leaked the report to a foreign media outlet.
Information Minister, Pervaiz Rashid says that the report has not been leaked and it was a draft of a member of the Abbotabad Commission.
The gov’t says it will discuss possibility of making the report public if does not harm national interest.
