JUI-(F), ANP reach alliance for by-polls
Friday, July 19th, 2013 2:35:01 by Tahir KhanJamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) and Awami National Party (ANP) Friday announced that they have reached an alliance for the next moth by-elections.
JUI-F will support the candidates of ANP in NA-1,5 & PK-23 while ANP will support JUI-F candidates on the remaining seats in the province.
By-elections will be held on five National Assembly and four provincial assembly seats in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on August 22, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) says.
The JUI-F and ANP had been staunch rivals in the May 11 elections and both want to give tough time to political rivals in by-elections.
PTI and Jamaat-e-Islami also say they have entered into a seat adjustment in the by-elections. PTI will support a JI provincial candidate while Jamaat will support PTI on other seats.
By-elections will also be held in other provinces and the PML-N is in consultations to retain its vacant seats and win vacated by others.
