Pakistan shows concerns at violence in Indian-held Kashmir
Friday, July 19th, 2013 8:46:27 by Tahir KhanPakistan Friday expressed its deep concern over the killing of more than 6 people and injury to scores of others in the Indian-occupied Kashmir as a result of violence that occurred following the reported man-handling of a prayers leader and desecration of the Holy Quran by officials of the Border Security Force.
“Such acts incite violence and hurt the sentiments of Muslims not only in Pakistan but all over the world,” the Foreign Ministry said.
“We have noted the comments of the Indian leadership to carry out an investigation into the incident,” the Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
The Government of Pakistan calls for a thorough and proper investigation to be carried out expeditiously and those responsible for this act to be brought to justice, he said.
Meanwhile Indian Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde ordered an inquiry into the firing incident in Ramban district and said any excessive use of force will be dealt with strictly.
Indian media has reported that the Border Security Force (BSF) troops fired on demonstrators who had gathered outside their headquarters in the district of Gool.
The head of the madrassa, Qari Shabir, said four BSF troopers came in looking for militants, at the same time that a caretaker was alone there reciting prayers for Ramazan.
