Thursday, July 25th, 2013 10:33:30 by Tahir KhanThree people were killed and four others were wounded Thursday morning when an explosion went off in Kunduz, the capital city of northern Afghan province of Kunduz, the police said.
“One vehicle of National Directorate of Security (NDS) was running in Bandar-e-Kabul area of the city. A sticky bomb attached into the car by militants went off, killing one NDS personnel aboard and two civilian passersby on the spot,” a police officer was quoted as telling the media.
The NDS is the intelligence agency of the country. The blast, took place at around 7: 00 a.m. local time in the city 250 km north of Kabul, also damaged several shops and houses nearby.
The government troops cordoned off the area shortly after the blast. The injured were rushed to a hospital in the city.
No group has claimed responsibility yet for the attack, but the Taliban routinely claim responsibility for such attacks.
The Taliban has intensified attacks since they launched annual spring offensive in April.
Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, recently said that the Taliban will step up their attacks on Afghan and foreign security forces and other targets through the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan
