Election chief declares unofficial results of presidential polls
Tuesday, July 30th, 2013 6:21:20 by Tahir KhanThe election chief Tuesday announced unofficial results of the Presidential Elections, which show that the ruling party candidate Mamnoon Hussain got 432 votes of the Electoral College while his rival Wajihuddin Ahmed received only 77 votes.
The result was announced by the Chief Election Commissioner retired Justice Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim in Islamabad at the completion of counting in the parliament and four provincial assemblies.
Polling was held at the Parliament House in Islamabad and four provincial assemblies where Senators‚ Members of the National Assembly and Members of the Provincial Assemblies cast their votes.
In Islamabad‚ 314 votes were cast out of which 311 were declared valid by the Presiding Officer Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Justice Anwar Kasi. Mamnoon Hussain secured 277 votes while Wajihuddin Ahmad got 34 votes.
In Sindh Assembly twenty-seven electoral votes were cast by the members. Mamnoon Hussain bagged 25 votes while Wajihuddin received just two votes.
In Balochistan Assembly fifty-six votes were cast by the members. Mamnoon Hussain secured fifty-five votes while Wajihuddin got only one vote.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly‚ fifty-seven electoral votes were cast. Mamnoon Hussain got twenty-one votes while Wajihuddin bagged thirty-six votes.
In Punjab Assembly fifty-eight electoral votes were validly cast by the members. Mamnoon Hussain bagged 54 votes while Wajihuddin got four votes.
The opposition Peoples Party and its allies Awami National Party, Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) and Baloch National Party (Awami) boycotted the presidential election.
The Chief Election Commissioner said that no party should have boycotted the elections.
