PM says gov’t respects mandate of provincial governments

He was addressing the meeting of Council of Common Interests in Islamabad which discussed and approved a new energy policy.
The prime minister said that federal government will provide all possible assistance to provinces in resolving the people’s problems.
Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif‚ Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak‚ Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik and other members of the council are attending the meeting.
The committee comprising chief secretaries of the four provinces presented before the council its recommendations on the energy policy.
The energy policy envisages end of power outages during the next three to four years and production of cheap electricity by using coal and hydel resources.
The strategy foresees bringing down the power tariff to single digit in three years and improving the efficiency of power transmission system.
To address the electricity crisis‚ the government has already started strict action those involve in power theft.
