SC orders Imran Khan to submit fresh reply by August 28
Friday, August 2nd, 2013 2:32:21 by Tahir KhanThe Supreme Court Friday expressed its dissatisfaction on the reply of PTI Chairman Imran Khan in contempt case and directed him to again submit his detailed reply till August 28.
The court asked Imran Khan to present proof against returning officer‚ if any. The court said the term ‘shameful’ used by PTI Chief is apparently abusive and the remarks are not acceptable to the court at all.
Earlier‚ Imran Khan in his reply said he talked about the subordinate judiciary on July 26th. Imran Khan said he did not talk about the higher judiciary. He said he objected the returning officers’ performance in his remarks.
A three-member bench with Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry in the chair heard the case.
Imran Khan later said his party has made enormous struggle and given sacrifices for the restoration of judiciary and his remarks never meant to target the superior judiciary.
Talking to newsmen outside Supreme Court he said he had indicated that certain returning officers and staff of election commission had not played their due role of holding transparent elections.
“We have pending cases in courts against the allegations of rigging in four constituencies and their resolution will expose the corrupt elements.”
He said the PTI has already accepted the election results but want probe against rigging so that next elections are held in transparent manner. “We have pinned our hopes to Supreme Court to look into these cases.”
Imran Khan said all major political parties have alleged about rigging in the elections.
