Terror threat: Islamabad airport cleared after search operation

The security forces Saturday morning declared the Islamabad’s Benazir Bhutto International Airport after hours of search operation in view of terror threat.
Entry of vehicles had been banned and all cars were removed from the parking before the search operation was started in the wee hours of Saturday.
The security at the Airport has been tightened amid reports of a terrorist threat were received by the intelligence agencies. The terror threat forced the authorities declare high alert at the airport.
Rangers and army were called in and deputed at all entry and exit points, while the airport parking lot has also been vacated. All roads leading to the airport have been sealed off. Security had also been beefed at the nearby Noor Khan’s military airbase.
Hundreds of vehicles were parked along both sides of the road after the entrance of private vehicles into the airport was barred.
The treats were received following the Taliban attack on a main prison in Dera Islami Khan and rescued nearly 250 prisoners including dozens of militants.
Security for all jails across the country has been beefed up as the intelligence agencies fear similar attacks by the militants.
