Pakistani cadet wins sword of honour at Royal Military Academy
Tuesday, August 13th, 2013 3:15:35 by Tahir KhanCorporal Cadet Asad Mushtaq from Pakistan Army got the rare distinction of winning the overseas Sword of Honour from Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
He was successfully commissioned on 9 August 2013 and received the sword from the Countess of Essex on the day of parade.
Corporal Asad attributed his success to the training he received at Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul and his parents’ prayers. He dedicated his sword to all the Shuhada and troops of the Pakistan Army fighting against terrorism. By doing so he has carried forward the baton of success and high standards displayed by Pakistani cadets at Sandhurst, says a press release received from London on Tuesday.
Earlier the commissioning ceremony was attended by the High Commissioner of Pakistan and Colonel Muhammad Zulfiqar Bhatti, Army & Air Adviser at Pakistan High Commission, London.
A reception was also held at Pakistan High Commission, London in honour of Cadet Asad Mushtaq. Speaking at the occasion, Pakistan High Commissioner for UK Mr. Wajid Shamsul Hasan congratulated the Cadet on his remarkable success that brought about good name for Pakistan.
He said that such a success was testimony to the high professional standards of Pakistan Army which had always stood by its reputation with pride.
He urged the Cadet Officer to keep up the high standards of professionalism set by Pakistan Army throughout his career.
The commissioned officer expressed his resolve to serve the nation in line with the traditions of Pakistan Army. The reception was attended by the officers of the High Commission and representatives of the media.
