Pakistan hopes tension with India along LoC will reduce

Tensions heightened over exchange of fire between the forces of the nuclear armed neighbours along the Line of Control in the disputed Kashmir region in recent days.
Both accuse each other of violating the 2003 ceasefire.
Pakistan military sources say that two civilians were killed and 12 others, including four soldiers, were injured in 34 violations by India over the past 12 days.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry the government has conveyed its concerns on the LoC ceasefire violations to India in a clear way.
Spokesman, Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry said diplomatic‚ military and trade channels are some of the means through which both have communications going on.
“Pakistan’s policy is based on restraint‚ responsibility and dialogue,” he told the weekly press briefing in Islamabad.
“ It is our hope that in the larger interest of peace in the region as envisioned by our leadership, tensions along the LoC will be reduced, and ceasefire will be respected by the Indian side.”
He said Pakistan has a long-standing position that it will not allow its soil to be used for terrorism.
“Pakistan being itself victim of terrorism cannot allow this to happen. We are totally committed to eradicate the menace of terrorism.”
Terming the visit of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon very successful‚ the Foreign Office spokesman said Pakistan is committed to UN goals for peace‚ stability and social welfare.
When asked to clarify the position of UN Secretary General on drone strikes‚ he said the Secretary General has said clearly that use of drones should be subject to international law.
When asked if Pakistan would grant the status of Most Favoured Nation to India‚ the spokesman said there needs to build consensus with stakeholders in Pakistan.
He said Pakistan is committed to normalizing its trade relations with India and will try to further expand these.
On a question on the recent situation in Egypt‚ the spokesman said Pakistan views with concern the recent bloodshed in that country and, “we are hopeful that all parties resolve their issues amicably to help give democracy a chance to prosper.”
