PTI issues ‘White Paper” on election fraud
Wednesday, August 21st, 2013 8:47:21 by Tahir KhanChief of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Wednesday issued details of what it claimed rigging in the May 11 general elections.
Khan said the party has collected nearly a 2,000-page “White Paper”, to substantiate claims that polls were rigged.
The PTI chairman said that a lot of secrets have been disclosed in the white paper document, adding that some other parties have also talked about election fraud.
Khan said that the election officials at lower level had been involved in the fraud across Pakistan.
“Voter turn-out rate was immensely affected after the 1970 general elections owing to massive rigging, failing democracy and martial laws. This time, however, it increased after many years.”
He said PTI had requested the Chief Justice of Pakistan to conduct a thumb print verification process in just four constituencies but it was revealed that he already had 20,000 cases pending.
He said PTI, which rules Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province,” will introduce this system to ensure free and transparent elections.
“If voters lose their faith in the election process then the voter turnout would decrease,” the PTI leader warned.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Wednesday‚ he said the White Paper is not aimed to change the government or to harm the election process. He said there is a need to rectify the electoral process.
Imran Khan said PTI has filed sixty-four election petitions with the Election Tribunals. He alleged that worst kind of rigging was done in four National Assembly constituencies and demanded of the Supreme Court to order investigations in these constituencies.
The Government rejected the allegations of rigging during general elections leveled by Imran Khan.
A statement released by the government says that the national and international organizations have validated the results of the elections.
It said that Imran Khan does not have justification to challenge the authority of the Election commission.
