Gunmen kill madrassa teacher, another man in Islamabad
Friday, August 23rd, 2013 10:42:16 by Tahir KhanUnidentified gunmen shot dead a teacher of a religious school and another man when they fired at a ‘madrassa’ in Islamabad late Friday, police said.
A 14-year student of the school was also injured in the attack at Shehzad Town area of Islamabad, police said.
The gunmen fled after the incident. No group claimed responsibility for the attack on Madani Madrassa.
Police said the gunmen sprayed bullets at the school and injured teacher Qari Arif and another man identified as Darwesh. They were taken to the Islamabad’s main hospital where both died of wounds.
Jamaat-e-Ahli Sunnah Wal-Jamaat condemned the attack on the religious school and demanded arrest of the culprits.
The Jamaat chief, Muhammad Ahmed Ludhyanvi, warned that they will not tolerate killings of its activists. He criticized the government for failure to check incidents of terrorism.
In another incident six people were killed and several injured in clashes between the members of two religious groups in Bhakkar district of Punjab province.
Jamaat-e-Ahli Sunnah Wal-Jamaat leader Maulana Sham-ur-Rehman Muaweya said that two activists were killed in Bhakkar while 12 others were injured in firing by the rival group. He said an emergency meeting has been summoned to discuss the situation arising out of the attacks on Jamaat-e-Ahli Sunnah Wal-Jamaat.
